MUSIC BIZ QUEEN are to release their first single with new frontman PAUL RODGERS. And it’ll be a free download for NELSON MANDELA’s AIDS charity.
It’s only the second track the pomp-rock champs have recorded since frontman FREDDIE MERCURY’s death in 1991.
And Say It’s Not True is the first time new frontman Paul will share vocal duties. Guitarist BRIAN MAY and drummer ROGER TAYLOR will also sing.
The group are currently in the studio putting the finishing touches to the single which will appear as a free download on December 1.
Roger said: “By making the song available for free we hope to help Nelson Mandela with his campaign to get across the message that no-one is safe from infection. We have to be aware, we have to protect ourselves and those we love. The song follows the line of Mr Mandela’s personal message. It’s in our own hands to bring a stop to this.”
Tub-thumper Rog wrote the song as a gift to former South African premier Nelson.
The record-breaking rockers’ last new studio recording was in November 1997 when they reunited to record Freddie Mercury tribute track No-one But You.

è indubbio che rispetto a 20 anni fa may non sia più l'idolo che era,ma lo apprezzo perchè ama fare musica e continuando in questo progetto,quindi con nuovo album + nuovo tour nel 2008,darà l'occasione alle nuove generazioni di conoscere e apprezzare la musica dei queen

Having originally issued the track as a free download for World Aids Day (December 1) to support Nelson Mandela’s 46664 HIV AIDS campaign, rock group Queen and Paul Rodgers are responding to public demand to make their newly recorded song “Say It’s Not True” available as a commercial CD single release.
All royalties from world sales will be donated to Nelson Mandela’s AIDS cause, 46664.
Queen’s first new studio recording in ten years and Paul Rodgers’ first in 7 years, the track is being rush-released by Parlophone/EMI throughout the world excluding North America to be available by the end of the year.
In South Africa, where the December 1 World Aids Day 46664 concert took place, the single will be on sale within a matter of days.
Roger Taylor, Brian May and legendary singer Paul Rodgers, have been recording intensively for their first studio album together, expected to be released in 2008, and, unable to appear in the 46664 concert this month in Johannesburg, they decided to donate one of their new tracks instead…a brand new and powerful version of the song “Say It’s Not True”, penned by Taylor.
The track was premiered in the Johannesburg concert with a specially commissioned video which highlights the hardship of the lives of the 5.5 million South Africans infected with HIV AIDS.
Of his song, Taylor says: “It is meant to make you think about these people, about what their lives are like, and how if we each try and help, we can together do something to bring about some change for them.”
Queen lost their lead singer Freddie Mercury to AIDS in November 1991. The band’s last studio recording, “No-One But You”, written by Brian May and released almost exactly ten years ago, was drawn from the experience of losing Freddie.
The band promise buyers of the single the premium of hearing the track in a new mix, heightened by further studio work by the band after the necessity of delivering an early mix for download in time for World AIDS Day.
The single comes as an enhanced CD release carrying the full video shown at the Johannesburg concert.
While not physically available until December 31, the CD can be pre-ordered from www.queenonline.com from Monday.
Says Paul Rodgers: "Having travelled to South Africa and met with Nelson Mandela, a living icon of peace, we need to stand behind his 46664 Campaign to bring awareness to and eradicate HIV/AIDS."

in pratica la nuova canzone scaricata da più di 100mila utenti verrà commercializzata in cd come singolo,il cui ricavato sarà devoluto alla associazione di Nelson Mandela per la lotta contro l'AIDS,so che molti di voi diranno che questi non sono piu i queen eccetera,però dato che non ci speculano su questo singolo vi invito a comprarlo per finanziare la lotta all'aids,costerà massimo 5 euro penso.

Sono giorni di fermento per i Q+PR che, dopo aver rilasciato in download gratuito il nuovo brano ‘Say It’s Not True’, annunciandone anche la pubblicazione come singolo ufficiale per la fine dell’anno, proseguono nei lavori di registrazione del nuovo album che, ormai dovrebbe vedere la luce nei primi mesi del 2008.
Nelle ultime ore, Brian May ha fatto trapelare attraverso il suo sito personale alcune nuove indiscrezioni sul lavoro in sala di incisione. Rispondendo, infatti, ad un fan finlandese, ha affermato che il 17 dicembre si è conclusa la fase pre-natalizia dei lavori che, presumibilmente, riprenderanno con nuovo slancio dopo la pausa per le feste. Il chitarrista ha ancora una volta posto l’accento sul clima che assieme a Roger e Paul si è instaurato negli ultimi mesi ed ha fatto esplicito riferimento alla natura delle sessions: “si tratta di tre persone vere che stanno suonando assieme…una cosa assai rara al giorno d’oggi”. Per Brian, quindi, il nuovo album sta prendendo forma in puro stile rock, senza cioè lasciarsi sedurre da un uso eccessivo dell’elettronica che, negli ultimi anni, ha certamente contribuito a snaturare il ruolo di musicista nel panorama musicale mondiale.
Inoltre, Brian ha fatto esplicito riferimento ai brani finora incisi ed ha parlato di una set-list molto variegata e costituita da pezzi “rock, ballate e inni”. Sembra, dunque, che gli ingredienti tipici del sound dei Queen ci siano ancora ed è su di essi che il trio sta lavorando per offrire col nuovo anno nuove emozioni a tutti i fans in trepidante attesa.

BRIAN MAY: We will tour I think at the end of this year, starting about September. We're gonna do some dates in Europe and we have an 02 date, which we haven't announced yet. Maybe I shouldn't have said that, but I think we have an 02 date, which is great.
TM: We'll look out for that. When will you know the date?
BM: Hmmm.... Pretty soon.

e proprio ieri a catania ho comprato il cd singolo queen and paul rodgers say it's not true alla feltrinelli per 4.90 euro,e devo dire che sono orgoglioso d'averlo acquistato visto che il ricavato andrà totalmente alla fondazione di nelson mandela per la lotta contro l'aids,all'interno c'è la canzone ed il video,quest ultimo molto toccante beh la canzone la conosciamo piu o meno tutti,e se volete in qualche modo contribuire anche voi con neanche 5 euro potete farlo.questa è la copertina:

QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS TOUR UPDATE
Q. I thought this was very exciting news. I don't know where this stands, but are you planning on touring with Queen?
PAUL RODGERS: Oh, we have toured. Yeah, what we did, we got together and we had such a blast that it turned into a world tour and we basically went out playing our hits, relatively mine and their's, and we took it to the next logical step. We took it in the studio to see what we could come up with, see what we could cook up which was brand new, and we had a lot of fun doing that. We are finishing the album next month [March]. It's for a summer release and we will tour in September in Europe in support of it.
Q. How has the reception among Queen fans, cos, you're not, I mean..., nobody can fill Freddie Mercury's shoes?
PR: I don't think anyone can fill an original person's shoes. He was, you know, they broke the mould. He was an original. A great front man, a great song writer and with a lot of heart. You know, I sort of studied the band by watching DVD's and listening to their music when I took this on and I became more and more impressed with the power of his stage performance and his stage presence and how deeply. You know they sung some really deep songs as well as the flat out rockers and I was very impressed. So when I took that on, I decided that the way I would handle it was to reinterpret those songs in my own way, because I do that with the blues. I do that with soul sometimes as well. I reinterpret it in my own way and that would be the only way that we could make this work, to create something brand new.
Q. Will I hear some Bad Company, some .... as well as the Queen catalogue?
Oh yeah, absolutely. You know, one of the exciting things about the current upcoming tour will be is that we will not only be doing our own relative hits as it were, we'll also be doing brand new material, which is really a charge and it's really fun and exciting. It's kind of... it's very much, if I could tell you how it sounds, it's kind of, cos each song is so very different from the other, so it isn't like this or like that, but there is kind of a blues-soul feel to it which I can probably bring, and then still those harmonies, you know, there's still those harmonies. There's still that precision that Queen are famous for, that beautiful precision, [imitates a bar of "I Want To Break Free" middle eight], you know, that beautiful solo thing.

in effetti...specie perchè il concerto a cui parteciperò mi costerà sacrifici non solo economici,visto che non ci vado gratis,anzi...
però c'è da dire che cantare love of my life duettando con brian,e battere le mani a tempo in radio ga ga e we will rock you con roger non ha prezzo!!!
