Paul Rodgers (right) joined the band on tour in 2005 Queen are to release their first studio album for 13 years - and their first without the vocals of Freddie Mercury.
The Cosmos Rocks will feature ex-Free singer Paul Rodgers, who has replaced Mercury in the band's live shows.
Queen's last album, Made in Heaven, came out in 1995 and featured material written and recorded by Mercury before his death in 1991.
The band have also announced a Queen and Paul Rodgers 14-nation European tour, starting in September.
It will include UK dates in Nottingham, Glasgow, London, Cardiff, Birmingham and Liverpool.
They will also play in Russia, Poland, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, Hungary, Serbia, the Czech Republic and Austria.
Guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor and Rodgers wrote the new album in late 2007 and early this year. It will be released on 1 September.
Bassist John Deacon, who retired from the music business in the late 1990s, will not take part in the tour.

Tour heralds in first new Queen studio album in 13 Years

With a new album in the pipeline - the first new studio album to carry the Queen name since the Freddie Mercury sessions – Queen is heading back on the road for a four-month tour, once again in the company of musician/singer/songwriter Paul Rodgers who joined the band for the highly successful 2005/2006 world tour, the European leg of which ended with the band’s spectacular London Hyde Park open air concert before going on to play the US and Japan.
In all, the band’s tour was attended by more than a million people.
Together Brian May, Roger Taylor and Paul Rodgers have recorded their first album’s worth of material, jointly written and produced. With the title yet to be disclosed, the album is being readied for release September 1, two weeks ahead of the start of the tour.
The Queen + Paul Rodgers 28-date arena tour will take in 14 countries in just seven weeks, and take the band to Northern Eurasia, Central and Southern Europe, and the UK, and is expected to wind up at the end of the year with the band’s highly anticipated return to South America, the setting of some of its most historic tours in the early 80’s.
Queen’s historic Latin America dates set new world records for the numbers of the audiences it attracted. At the 1985 Rock in Rio concert the band played to an unheard of audience of 300,000 and was watched on television by nearly 200 million people throughout the South American continent.
The 2008 tour kicks off mid-September in Russia with two dates at Moscow’s SCO Olympic Arena, moves on into Poland for a massive free concert at the historic Gdansk Shipyard, and then follows a path through Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands before arriving in the UK early October for 6 dates including London’s 02 Arena on October 13.
The UK dates see the band additionally play Nottingham, Glasgow, Cardiff and Birmingham with a final UK date at Liverpool Arena on October 18 before continuing on to Spain, Hungary, Serbia, Czech Republic and Austria for seven further dates.
Tracks on the new Queen + Paul Rodgers album are all newly written by May, Taylor and Rodgers during the late 2007/ early 2008 recording sessions. ‘Say It’s Not True’, previously released at the end of last year by Queen + Paul Rodgers as a special World Aids Day download for Nelson Mandela’s 46664 HIV AIDS charity will be included, plus a ‘first’ for a Queen album – a cover version.
One of these tracks, C-lebrity, will receive a sneak preview when the band make a by-demand return to the UK’s ITV Al Murray’s Happy Hour for the final show on April 4.
Queen’s last studio album release was “Made In Heaven” released in November 1995 containing the last recordings with Freddie. The album became the band’s biggest selling studio album, with world sales in excess of 20 million.
Queen’s “Greatest Hits 1” album has achieved the distinction of being the UK’s biggest selling album of all time, having sold a staggering 5,407,587 copies in Britain alone (source: VH1/The Official UK Charts Company. November 2006).
Paul Rodgers is and has been one of the most sought after and recognizable vocalists in rock music. Celebrating his 40th anniversary as a recording artist, Rodgers is known for his work as a founding member of bands Free, Bad Company, The Firm and as a Grammy nominated solo artist. He has written, produced and recorded some of radios biggest hits including “All Right Now,” “Feel Like Making Love,” and “Radioactive.” Rodgers’ latest CD/DVD release, “Live in Glasgow,” charted internationally and was recently certified Gold.
Between them, Queen and Paul Rodgers have released more than 50 albums during their long careers and sold in excess of a staggering 300 million records.
Tickets for all UK dates will go on sale at venue box offices and usual ticket agents from Saturday April 5.

il riff non è male,ma la canzone in se non mi trasmette niente,sarà che è fatta live,sarà che non ho ben presente il testo(mi pare c'entri essere famosi,apparire su mtv) ma mi sembra di gran lunga al di sotto dello standard queen...mi fa cagare la parte cantata da roger con una lentezza quasi snervante...che ne pensate?

ed ecco a voi la cover dell'album dei queen piu paul rodgers THE COSMOS ROCKS in uscita fra un mese circa...
la song di sottofondo è il secondo singolo c-lebrity che a parte il riff mi delude moltissimo,sarà che ho un'irritazione viscerale provocata dalla voce di rodgers sovrapposta a batteria e chitarra queen...intanto vediamo come saranno le altre 12 canzoni dell'album.
però che tristezza infinita se penso che di questi tempi 30 anni orsono i miei colleghi fan queeniani si godevano l'appena sfornato JAZZ album strepitoso dei queen con pezzi a mio avviso innovativi qualiON'T STOP ME NOW,DREAMERS BALL,IN ONLY SEVEN DAYS,FAT BOTTOMED GIRLS... peccato non esserci stato

in piu c'è una special edition dell'album in uscita con un dvd del concerto in giappone del 2005 e forse acquisterò quell'edizione,previo ascolto delle canzoni dell'album perchè sinceramente spendere 20 euro e passa a scatola chiusa è un azzardo che per uno studente privo di reddito e con tasse universitarie da pagare non ci si può permettere...
una cosa mi tormenta ed è che il basso lo suonano a turno brian may e paul rodgers,il che vuol dire che non dovremo aspettarci groove di qualità e giri particolarmente movimentati,questo mi dispiace e mi fa pensare al peggio,perchè è in casi come questi che pensi a quanto erano strepitosi i queen al completo,quel john deacon che oltre ad essere un prolifico compositore ha fatto giri glam rock da urlo in the millionaire waltz e good old fashioned lover boy...ora io che sono un amante del basso come strumento cosa devo aspettarmi se sono may e rodgers a suonarlo nell'album???
boh mi aspetto il peggio,se non altro non resterò deluso

Beh dai mo obiettivamente lo sanno tutti che Deacon è un limone al basso, è piuttosto mediocre

ovviamente sono di parte e quindi non posso risponderti con il dovuto distacco e lucidità,però certo se lo rapportiamo a bassisti del calibro di john paul jones e pastorius allora può darsi che i suoi giri non siano particolarmente validi,però è cmq un bassista di professione e per quanto mediocre è sempre meglio che un chitarrista e un cantante che si arrangiano a suonare il basso di contorno per chiudere l'album di fatto per me è una scelta infelice.
poi oh tutta sta mediocrità di deacon io non ce la vedo,vatti a sentire crazy little thing called love,dragon attack,good old fashioned lover boy,millionaire waltz,a kind of magic...poi oh nelle canzoni dei queen ci sono giri di basso obiettivamente stupidi...toh vedi qua e fammi sapere che ne pensi:






sono suonati da bassisti amatoriali,ma ho controllato e i giri sono quasi suonati fedelmente,il tocco ovviamente non è lo stesso,ma questo ti fa capire se non altro che deacon non era affatto mediocre...aspetto tuoi commenti submarcos

hey io non sto ponendo deacon nell'olimpo dei bassisti piu grandi,ho fatto due nomi,ma avrei potuto farne molti di piu,per dire che cmq deacon non è a livelli di eccellenza,però definirlo mediocre è un azzardo che non potevo sopportare,il suo stile era appunto di rendere i sedicesimi delicati,veramente flebili e anche le ghost note molto ritmiche,e cmq in due song in particolare millionaire e good old fashioned i suoi giri cmq hanno dato una marcata impronta glam al sound dei queen nel 75-76...sting??? chi ???

Ti da la misura della sua caratura di musicista.
Ti ripeto inoltre che non è per fare lo spocchioso, anzi ti parla uno che ha ascoltato moltissimo i Queen fin dall'infanzia.
Bisogna essere obiettivi...........
Questo signore qua lo puoi reputare un bassista che conta nel rock




@Comunque Sting viene dal Jazz, sta circa 1 milione di spanne sopra a Deacon.
